Trip Mileage 303
‘Errrr Ok……..’
So we’re off, suspect we will leave about 8 but hey ho! There was some last minute attempts to sneak things into the bike.
There was the ‘why do you need two hair brushes’ debate that got slightly heated. Then there was the request to nip to the local supermarket to pick up a ‘mini hot water bottle’……no I’m not kidding.we managed to save some critical weight though by removing Rob’s aftershave. Deb of course ‘is a girl’ and therefore could not remove the bottle of perfume…. ‘One team’ people….’One team’.
But finally the Mighty Wing is packed and we are on our way. We have a room booked in Folkestone so no massive rush to get down to the ferry. The route today will take us to a McDonald’s in Whitchurch, stop off in Ludlow and Burton on the Water and then fire under London to our digs for the night.
Cats missing us already
Edit:-8:05 still not left ‘just got to do a work email’!
Edit:-8.11 ‘just run the hoover around for me again’
Edit:-8.20 ‘Almost done’
Edit:-8:38 attempt to gee things along a bit by starting bike and moving down drive did not have quite the desired effect.
Edit:- 8:53 ‘right Im ready’…..goes back upstairs to check on some more stuff
Edit:- 9.21 we are off
Edit 12:30 :- we stopped in bridge north on the way to put on waterproofs because the clouds were grey. Deb had purchased so new ones and decided not to try them on first. Turns out these are special ones that are long enough to keep her boobs dry or even use as a bike cover. Good news was there was a classic car garage and I could have happily owned every motor in there. This Porsche was stunning
Edit 14:40:- cream tea in Burton on the water. Wow this place is packed with tourists.
Edit:- 20:02 - only 20 mins to go to Folkestone but we have stopped for a McDonalds. How would we tour on bikes without fast-food? Wireless CarPlay is being a bit unreliable on the Mighty Wing but it could be down to the couple of battery warning messages I have had on the headset it’s getting a quick charge to make sure we get there.
Approaching 300 miles for the day and Deb has done really well, think she is ready to stop now though. Oh yea, also discovered she is a nervous filterer 😏.
Edit:-22.30 made it to our digs for the night. If your ever getting an early ferry and looking for somewhere reasonably priced to accommodate the early dart then can highly recommend this place.
